Which Voice Do You Hear?

The Jews in Jesus’ day had been waiting for their Messiah for a very long time. This Sunday, we will hear them ask Jesus again if He is the Messiah; but when they don’t like his answer, they want to stone Him. He tells them they don’t believe because they are not one of His flock, and they don’t recognize His voice.

“But the voice of truth tells me a different story: the voice of truth says, ‘Do not be afraid!’” (from the song recorded by Casting Crowns, “Voice of Truth”)

How many voices do we hear during our days? Spouses sharing opinions, friends offering advice, co-workers making demands, compliments, judgment, high and low expectations. How do we respond when we don’t understand, or don’t agree? If fear and anger is your first response, take a moment and consider which voice you want to hear. Breathe, pray, and open your heart to the voice of peace and mercy.

“Out of all the voices calling out to me, I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth.”

In His love,
