… and a child shall lead them!

I love that our youth are leading worship this Sunday with this scripture from Mark 9:37: “Whomever welcomes one of these children in my name welcomes me … and the One who sent me.”

Our church works hard at being welcoming, and if you want to see that in action, come on Sunday and watch our youth joyfully lead worship. They have been encouraged since they were little to stay in the pews, even when they’re noisy. They have sung in children’s choir, acted and danced in musicals, read scripture, and played their instruments to an always-positive congregation. Salem’s children and youth know that their church family wants them to come as they are. We are thrilled to experience their talent and excitement to be in front of the congregation, and also behind the scenes running our worship services.

I ask you to really listen to the words they speak and sing this Sunday, Sept. 23. You will hear words of feeling God’s presence at camp and on mission trips. They will sing “come just as you are,” “love like I’m not scared,” and “take time for a brother.” As we let the children lead us, we will most certainly be blessed.
