Dear Salem Family,

It’s January. I know this isn’t a surprise. It hits every year and for some it means sadness with the Christmas season over and for some the excitement of a New Year is upon us. January can be a blue time of year when the sun doesn’t shine as much and the cold keeps people from their regular routines. For some, myself included, they love the cold and shine during this time of year. And for Salem this also means the business of the church is just around the corner, the annual meeting, budgets and talking about what lies ahead of us this year.

Now, the business of the church isn’t always fun, but it is necessary for this community to do all of the amazing things it is able to do. I can’t say enough about all of the amazing things this community takes part in. The people in this community have great talent and make such a difference in every life they touch. I have the wonderful opportunity to see that difference and to see the little miracles of relationship in this community. All of this wouldn’t be possible without a little business of the church.

I can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store for this community. The ministries we have, the enthusiasm we experience, the love I see, the relationships built, the impact in the community and the growth I see gives me excitement for the next year. This will also be a year of change and evolution. Adding the third service, next steps in facility changes and technology changes will all be taking place this year. As we walk together this year through change and continue to live out God’s mission for Salem, I pray that we do so as community, together.
