Simply Worship – coming January 8 at 9:15am

Our new service at 9:15am Sunday mornings will offer a more intimate, less structured way to worship. You won’t be told when to stand or sit, but to do so as you are comfortable. We will offer personal, spontaneous prayer and new ways to connect scripture to our everyday lives.

Simply Worship is meant to be a less complex, more personal experience. We are removing some of the traditional structure and adding an easy flow, with music on piano and guitar, and prayers that are requested by the congregation offered together in the service.

One of the things I love about Salem is how we embrace tradition, and also encourage new ideas and concepts in worship. When it was suggested that we add occasional guitar to the 8am service, several members who attend that service told me that they play, and have volunteered to do so over the last few years – including the 7:30pm service Christmas eve! This is a congregation who loves our history, and also reaches out to new members and new worship offerings to reach those who may not have been raised in our Lutheran traditions.

I hope that between our 8:00am classic and traditional, 9:15am simple and gathered, and 10:30am jubilant and energized services, you will find a place where you are fed and motivated to live as you are called throughout the week.

In Christ’s love,

Heather Lewis

Music and Worship Director
