Faith and Belief

As we continue through the season of Lent, I find myself thinking a lot about faith and believing. These words have strong meaning and identify my Christian life.

Faith and belief are foundational parts of our lives as Christians. There is a difference between them even though we tend to look at them as having the same meaning.

A belief is a state of mind and does not push us to act, but it can change how we view life or approach situations. Faith is a firm belief in something in which there is no actual proof.

You can believe in something without having faith. For example, people may believe in God’s existence but not have faith in who He is and change how they live their lives.

Our faith is connected to each one of us as believers. We live out God’s word each day. We listen and pray and take care of others. Our actions demonstrate our faith. We read the Bible. We pray for our family and friends and the world we live in. We share our faith with others. We do our best to be good people and we have faith and belief that we will meet our heavenly Father someday.
