Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

I pray you have had a blessed week.

Well, as I write this letter, Jill and I are just a couple of days away from getting on an airplane to fly to Israel. Yes, this is a trip we have dreamed about for years and we are finally going to visit the land that we have studied so much about and the land where so much of our faith is centered.

All those stories in scripture of how where the prophets lived and traveled, we will finally get to see those places. We will actually walk on the mount that is believed to be the mount where Jesus gave his Sermon on the Mont and he shared the Beatitudes with the world. We will visit the Jordan River and the area that scholars believe would be near the place where Jesus was baptized. We will visit Jerusalem and walk the Via Delorosa which is believe to be the walk that Jesus was forced to make as he was lead to Golgatha to be crucified.

We are so excited to finally travel to the place where our Lord and so many of the prophets of Scripture lived and did their work for the Lord. I find it very fitting that when we arrive in Israel on Sunday, November 2, that that will be All Saints Sunday. Yes, this Sunday is All Sunday and here at Salem, during our time of prayers, we will call aloud all the names of those who have died in our community this past year and will call our all the names of those who were baptized here this year. It is a day that we will remember those new saints and those saints that have gone before us. And, this is what I believe Jill and I will be doing all next week as we journey throughout Israel, we will be remembering all the saints that have gone before us. But also know, that as we travel around, we will remember all of you, too. For this time of year, we ought to also remember all the saints that we still make the earthly journey with and with whom we all seek to better understand the will of God.

While we are gone, Pastor Ashley Huber will be preaching and presiding for our time of worship on November 2 and November 9, and Pastor Jennifer Thomas will be handling all pastoral calls.

You will all remain in my prayers and I will look forward to getting back and sharing our amazing journey with you.

Have a blessed week!

Shalom,

Pastor Dave
